  So, what exactly is Vaile Construction's consulting service?  It is a flat rate service in which Vaile Construction (a licensed General Contracting company) will guide you through all of the steps neccessary to do the job yourself.  As your own general contractor, you don't have to do any of the actual construction yourself, but you are responsible for the permits, codes, quality and budget.  Vaile Construction will assist you with whatever you need to get the job done, and make sure that all codes are followed and that you find quality sub-contractor's to work for you.  Here is a list of everything Vaile Construction consulting will guide you with:

  Getting your plans made - Vaile Construction will assist you with drawing appropriate plans, as well as ensuring all code items are included in your plan.

  How to pull a permit with the building department -  Vaile Construction will physically walk you through the building department, including approvals at zoning, the plan review desk, and getting the actual permit.

  Finding the right sub-contractors - We will assist you in finding the right companies to do the work.  We have a list of trades that we are familiar with, but we can also assist you in finding your own.  This process is very important; you must find a quality contractor, ensure they have all licenses and insurance needed, be confident that they can do the work and will see the job through, and of course, find the best price for the job (it's not always the cheapest).

  Managing the schedule - Vaile Construction will help you to develop the most efficient schedule, including the order work should proceed in, deadlines, critical tasks, and inspection milestones.

  Conform to all applicable codes - There are many codes, both national and local, that apply to every project.  Vaile Construction will create a list of all critical code items and references that apply to your project so you will have a "cheat sheet" of codes without having to sort through numerous code books.

  Managing workmanship - Sure you know what you want it to look like, but it can be difficult to convey your image to a sub-contractor.  Also, if it's wrong after it's complete, it's too late.  We can assist you in ensuring that the scope of work is understandable and agreeable, that the correct materials and methods are being used, and that the job is progressing correctly to meet your goals.
